Two things. Firstly, a visit to the Design Museum’s exhibition Drawing Fashion is highly recommended. Secondly, buy the beautiful accompanying book, called, not surprisingly, Drawing Fashion.

As well as wonderful illustrations from collections including Dior, Chanel, Lacroix, Comme des Garçons, Alexander McQueen and Viktor & Rolf, the book has engaging essays by internationally renowned fashion journalists/authors Colin McDowell and Holly Brubach. Their words draw fashion illustration into a wider social context, and show how the drawings reflect both the time they were made and that era’s vision for the future. Lovely.
