Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Actually, it’s a Christmas tree, as created by fashion supremo John Galliano for the foyer of London’s Claridge’s hotel, which was unveiled last night.

This season, the Dior head honcho has taken ‘Under the Sea’ as his inspiration, favouring fronds of coral over baubles and stars.

Although anemones, jellyfish and seahorses may not epitomise the festive season per se, there’s enough silver, sparkle and sumptuous whimsy in Galliano’s creation to keep things deliciously camp. Just as Christmas should be.

The tree will be in the lobby of the hotel until until 5 January. Neil, Dep Ed
